So, because of my ardent hatred for GW's Cadian heads, I've been searching a variety of places looking for alternate heads from non- GW companies that I can use for Imperial Guard minis. Here's what I've come up with so far:-Carrying the ever-popular Kolony and Heavy Infantry headsPurchasable through.-West Wind has actually got a couple different lines of really useful heads including their,.
And some historicals like (which has a variety of useful bare heads) and (which, in theory sounds really good, don't look nearly as good as some of West Wind's other items). Highlights include the WWII British Paras in Berets sprue, SoTR German Gasmask Head Field Cap, and Arthurian Britith Heads.-Anglian miniatures looks to have a line developed for Spanish Civil War historicals. These seem to be pretty specialized with Czech helmets and Carlist beret heads. $3.50 for 4 heads. Might be good for some Napoleonic-style IG.Purchasable through-They've got listings for a bunch of historical lines. I didn't look at all of them, but the only line I found with separate heads is their.
They don't have any pictures of their separate heads, but I'm figuring you can get an idea of them from the full figure pics - but that's an assumption on my part. They have separate heads for both U.S.
Army as well as Vietnamese Army figures. Some of the U.S. Army heads look fairly useful, but I'm less than impressed by the Vietnamese heads.
The Boonie Hat heads from both sides might be useful.-Hasslefree has actually got a pretty large selection of bare heads - and I mean, like bald heads. The notes on these specify that these are designed for you to sculpt your own hair/hat/helmet whatever you want. Pretty useful. Not only that, though, they have bare elf heads, goblin heads, orc heads, dragon heads, alien heads, dwarf heads (I feel a little like Cheech Marin's character in 'From Dusk til Dawn'). Heck, Hasslefree even has a helmet wings pack, for adding wings to your helmets.-Micro Arts Studio has got a couple different head packs which are generally more useful for Fantasy than 40k, but some could definitely see some use.
The barbarian heads could definitely be used for IG, Chaos, or SW.The Guard heads would make for a great WHFB Empire army or an eclectic IG army. And the Knights head sets could make for some good IG, Empire, or Bretonnians. And frankly, all the sculpts are really nice! Can anyone else add any other cool head packs they've found? This message was edited 1 time. Last update was at 2008/06/30 19:43:27.
Hi all, sorry to revive a dead thread, but i figured that this will be a more acceptable course of action compared to starting a new post.I am also in the process of finding heads, and I do not like GW ones.Specifically, I am after ROBED IG sized heads i.e. Not Dark Angels scaled ones. The only thing GW has to offer are 1-2 of these heads in a wood elf glade guard (?) pack. And I am after at least 40.So if anyone can please inform me of a place where I can obtain robed IG-scaled heads, I would be greatly appreciated if I can be informed. Please also note, that I really dislike the Pig Iron Kolony heads.
They would be good for a Mechanicum force, but not for what I am after.(I'm basically after a warrior-scholar lxC6xA1ok for my warrior acolytes)Many thanks in advance!»Go to.
